Consortium talks continue at Farsley Celtic

FARSLEY Celtic fans were last night anxiously waiting to hear the outcome of talks between a consortium led by former president John Palmer and the club's administrator.

The group, who have won financial backing from Leeds City Council, want to take control of the Conference North club but were recently told by the administrator, accountancy firm Mazars, that their offer was "inadequate".

Mazars also said an improved offer with proof of funding had to be submitted by close of play tomorrow.

A meeting was subsequently arranged that got underway at 4pm yesterday and a spokesperson for Mazars confirmed a statement will be released some time today.

Another bid for Celtic is also being considered by Mazars, though according to a Council report this second party want to use the football club's site for "their own business purposes".

That claim has fuelled fears the troubled Leeds club would cease to exist in their current form if the Palmer offer is not successful.

Farsley went into administration last summer but have overcome the 10-point penalty on the field and sit eight points clear of the relegation zone.
