DImitrios Pelkas ready to help Hull City out of poor run of form

Dimitrios Pelkas says he is ready to finally make his full Hull City debut after impressing from the bench in midweek.

The Greek international, who will join Sheffield United's George Baldock in the squad for this month's Nations League games against Cyprus and Northern Ireland, was a half-time substitute in Tuesday’s 3-0 defeat to home to Stoke City – their fourth in five matches.

The Tigers were noticeably better in the second half.

Pelkas, whose signing was delayed by injury, until deadline day also came off the bench at home to Sheffield United. He says is ready to start at Swansea City on Saturday.

"You can get (fitness) from the games, you can play from the beginning to get used to the tempo of the league," said the 28-year-old. "Day by day and game by game you can reach the level needed.

"I think I will be ready for Saturday to start the game, but of course, the coach will decide this. I have to wait and respect his ideas.

"I'm ready to help the team and game by game I will become more ready and have better fitness and understand the league (more), because for me it's a new league with a different style. With work and faith, I believe we can achieve."

Meanwhile coach Shota Arveladze says it was a difficult choice to leave Andy Cannon off Hull's squad list, although from his words it is not quite clear if it was his.

Clubs submitted lists of up to 25 players aged 21 or over who can play for them between now and January 1, when the transfer window reopens. Hull only named 24, so the door is not completely closed on midfielder Cannon to play Championship football again in 2022 but it does not look promising.

"I have to make choices and in midfield, I had more choices,” explained Arveladze. "I haven't really spoken about it.

"I thought the last time I spoke to him he was on the list but because (Benjamin) Tetteh was going out (through injury) – we heard he was going to be out for a long time – we were going to take him. To be honest, I don't know what changed."

Cannon continues to train with the club.

Meanwhile, last weekend's postponed game at Cardiff City has been rearranged for November 8 at 7.45pm.
