Doncaster Rovers priced out of Roberts renewal

DONCASTER Rovers manager Sean O'Driscoll admits that the club could not afford to match Derby County's offer for Gareth Roberts.

Former Welsh international Roberts, 32, is out of contract after four years with Rovers and has moved to Pride Park.

"We are aware of the figures that Derby are prepared to go to and we are not in the same league," said O'Driscoll. "It would be very difficult for the player to turn that down."

Rovers captain Brian Stock, Hull City goalkeeper Boaz Myhill, and Sheffield United striker Ched Evans have all been named in the Welsh squad for a friendly international against Croatia in Osijek on May 23.
