The Scot will announce his released list shortly, with several players expected to move on as Dickov reshapes his squad.

A number of Rovers players are out of contract including Dean Furman, Kyle Bennett, Reece Wabara, Stephen Bywater and Rob Jones along with Jamie McCombe and Abdul Razak.

Young professionals Paul McKay, Jack McKay and Liam Mandeville also see their deals expire this summer.

On when he will reveal his decision regarding out-of-contract players, Dickov, mindful that Rovers need to improve on this season’s modest finish of 13th in League One, said: “It will be within the next week, everyone will know what is coming on.

“I think there will be a few leaving and a few coming in.

“I think the players have roughly half an idea of who we are looking to keep and who we are not.

“We finished mid-table, so I have got to make sure first and foremost, coming from the top, that I am better and we have got to make sure that the squad is better going into next season as well.

“We must be more consistent in everything we do.”

Top-scorer Nathan Tyson has triggered a clause allowing him to stay at Rovers until 2016 and his future is set be finalised shortly.
