Doncaster Rovers v Coventry: Dickov sets sights on the broader picture

DONCASTER ROVERS’ home malaise may be the pressing topic for scores of supporters, but Paul Dickov is also preoccupied with another vital statistic ahead of today’s last home game of 2015.

Namely, pushing into the top half of League One by the time the strains of Auld Lang Syne ring out to mark New Year’s Day.

After last weekend’s fine victory at Swindon, Rovers are seeking back-to-back league wins for the first time this term this afternoon and only their second home victory since March 22.

While the home issue is one Dickov can hardly avoid, he also his sights on the broader picture ahead of the game with Coventry.

Dickov, waiting to hear back from Reece Wabara and Luke McCullough after offering the pair new deals, said: “Our aim this month was to try and get into the top half by the time the New Year came and, hopefully, we are on target to doing that. A win against Coventry will put us a long way towards doing that.”

On his side’s chalk-and-cheese home and away form, he added: “The home form is really frustrating for us all and we have had a meeting and said to the players that there is no rhyme nor reason why sometimes.

“The only way we can stop people talking about it is by going out there and winning a game.”

Rovers are sweating on the fitness of in-form winger Kyle Bennett, while Nathan Tyson’s fitness will also be assessed.
