FT Watford 4 Doncaster Rovers 1: Sordell punishes 10-man Rovers

Dean Saunders saw his 10-man Doncaster Rovers crash to defeat at Watford in the Championship.

Herold Goulon earned a recall in Doncaster’s midfield as Brian Stock was serving a one game ban. Pascal Chimbonda also started after recovering from a hip injury. Neither Damien Plessis, Mamadou Bagayoko, or Habib Bamogo received international clearance.

Marvin Sordell (44) broke Rovers’ resistance in the first half.

Two minutes after the break Billy Sharp equalised, heading home from close range.

But Rovers were reduced to 10 men on 64 minutes when Goulon received his second booking of the afternoon.

And the hosts soon capitalised when Sordell pounced for his second goal.

John Eustace was only on the pitch for a minute before he added a third goal on 84 minutes for Watford, with Michael Kightly completing the scoring.
