Hull assure Leicester Stewart is staying put

Hull rejected a £1m bid by Championship rivals Leicester City at the start of the January transfer window.

And after Leicester returned with an improved offer of £1.5m, Pearson warned former Hull chief Nigel Pearson that he is “wasting his time” trying to lure Stewart to the King Power Stadium.

“Cameron Stewart is not for sale, end of story,” said Adam Pearson. “We don’t want to sell Cameron and the player doesn’t want to go, so Leicester are wasting their time.

“We’ve told them to stop messing around. If this is designed to unsettle the player, it won’t work.”

While Stewart looks likely to stay at the KC Stadium, one player on his way out is Martin Pusic, who has left after his short-term contract expired last week.

The Austrian winger joined the Tigers in the summer following a pre-season trial and made three first-team appearances.

But he has been frustrated by injuries since mid-October and Hull have opted not to take up a clause in his contract to extend his stay until the end of the season.

Doncaster Rovers defender Pascal Chimbonda is confident of a return to action within three weeks.

Chimbonda, 32, spent a month on the sidelines with a hip flexor problem before breaking down 25 minutes into his return against Watford on New Year’s Eve.

The full-back visited a specialist yesterday before revealing on the social networking site Twitter that he is poised to make another comeback.

Chimbonda tweeted: “Just av (sic) result from the specialist good news will be back in 2 weeks and a half. I am happy.”

Barnsley defender Kern Miller has joined League Two strugglers Hereford United.

The 20-year-old had been training with the Bulls since November despite being on loan at Accrington Stanley.

Miller’s contract with Accrington precluded him from playing for Hereford until now.

Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray is expecting a cracking tie after his side were paired with local rivals Sunderland in the FA Cup fourth round.

Mowbray said of the visit: “It’s an exciting time for our fans to look forward to, especially as we haven’t played Sunderland since we were last in the Premier League. But we have important league matches to concentrate on before there.”

Sunderland are revitalised under new manager Martin O’Neill. “He has done a fantastic job and it will certainly be a tough test for us,” added Mowbray.
