THREE non-League Yorkshire clubs will today bid to reach the first round proper

FC Halifax Town, second in the Conference, head to Chorley, while Conference North outfits North Ferriby United and Guiseley are also both on the road, at Warrington Town and Grimsby Town respectively.

Guiseley face the hardest task with a trip to Blundell Park standing between them and a sixth appearance in the first round.

The most recent of those came two years ago when they were beaten by Barrow after a replay.

Lions manager Mark Bower said: “It is the biggest test of our (10-game) unbeaten run, as we play a full-time professional football club who were in the Football League for a long, long time.

“Grimsby got in the play-offs last season and are starting to pick up again this year.”

North Ferriby are bidding to make history by getting through the qualifiers for the first time.

Warrington, of EvoStik Division One North, are beatable opposition for the Villagers, who bowed out at this stage a year ago against Conference side Alfreton.

Manager Billy Heath said: “We have already faced two sides in previous rounds who treated our ties as their cup final and Warrington will be the same.”

Halifax travel to Conference North side Chorley looking to make the first round proper for only the second time since re-forming in 2008.

Manager Neil Aspin, who during his time at Leeds United reached the semi-finals, said: “I love the FA Cup. Everyone does, it is a fantastic competition. I say it every year and it is important.

“I feel like this game is a real ‘blood and guts’ FA Cup tie. You would like to get a home draw, but you know that if you don’t get it then you go away. We know what to expect.”

The draw for the first round proper will be screened live on BBC2 at 7pm on Monday.
