FA Trophy: Guiseley ready for action but Halifax game called off

Bower’s side travel to south London having seen their scheduled National League clash with Forest Green Rovers postponed last Saturday.

However, Bower revealed the break without a game will allow him to call upon players who would otherwise have been absent with injury.

He said: “Having not played for a couple of weeks can leave you a little bit rusty. Really, it gave us a bit of time to clear up a few injuries. We may have had eight, possibly even nine players unavailable last Saturday, so it may have been a blessing in disguise.

“We have quite a few of those back for the Dulwich game. Sometimes it can work for you, sometimes it can work against you. Obviously we wanted to play the game, but in the grander scheme of things it might have worked out.

“We don’t have a massive congestion of fixtures to fill in for the rest of the season, so there’s plenty of spaces for it to go in, and playing Saturday and Tuesday is not unusual for us, so it’s not a disaster.”

Elsewhere in the second round, FC Halifax Town saw their game against Barrow at The Shay called off due to a frozen pitch.

Bradford Park Avenue are also attempting to reach the third round when they host Nantwich Town.
