The KC Stadium stages Hull City’s FA Cup fifth-round replay with Arsenal - with Arsene Wenger’s Gunners arriving in East Yorkshire under the microscope after a poor recent run, with the game effectively a ‘free shot’ for the Tigers in their quest to reach the quarter-finals.

Travel across the M62 and down the M18 to the AESSEAL New York Stadium and rejuvenated Rotherham United are aiming to supply some high-octane fuel to their bandwagon with victory over Middlesbrough - in a Championship game which has ramifications at both ends of the table.

If that’s not enough, there’s a big night for Bradford City at home to Burton Albion and a derby in the offing as deflated Doncaster Rovers head to Scunthorpe United. Plus, Sheffield Wednesday visit fellow high-fliers Brighton, Huddersfield Town welcome Reading and Leeds United travel to Cardiff City. It’s all happening..

Pick of the midweek action:

1: Hull City v Arsenal. Pressure all upon the shoulders of the Gunners.

As winter turns into Spring, so Arsenal’s ability to man the barricades on several fronts is placed in grave peril - just for a change eh..

Claiming the FA Cup for a third successive season looks to be their best avenue for silverware, although one thing is for sure. If they bow out this evening against the side whom they beat in the 2013-14 showpiece, Arsene Wenger’s odds on celebrating a 20th anniversary in the charge of the club in the autumn will lengthy considerably.

It’s a change of tack for Hull on a night when their promotion rivals are in action. Some would say a distraction that they could do without, but in mitigation, their squad resources and lack of injuries mean that they can cope - at the minute anyway on two fronts, with the likes of Sean Maloney, Nick Powell and Ahmed Elmohamady set for a run-out tonight.

2: Rotherham United v Middlesbrough. Boro wary as Millers aim for strike three.

Fixtures against the Owls, Boro, Derby and Ipswich represented March assignments that are arguably as tough as it gets when you are struggling for life at the foot of the Championship - but the Millers are kicking and screaming.

They are already in credit thanks to an outstanding derby win at Hillsborough and will be pumped up and re-energised ahead of tonight’s game with Boro as the Millers seek three successive wins at this level for the first time since December, 2003.

Neil Warnock’s sides have posed problems over the years for Boro, who will not need reminding of their recent toils on the road at relegation-haunted duo MK Dons and Bristol City, when they picked up just one point from two matches and were lucky not to lose both.

Aitor Karanka has spoken of tonight’s game potentially being their toughest of the run-in and you can see where he is coming from on a night in which he is likely to be without defensive leader Dani Ayala once again.

3: Brighton v Sheffield Wednesday. Will fortune favour the Owls?

Wendesday are doing it tough, having come out of the wrong side of several key refereeing decisions in recent weeks and they must once again do without star turn Fernando Forestieri.

It is more cruel fortune that they run into a Brighton side on an impressive run of just one league defeat in nine, having won their last four home assignments, scoring an aggregate of 12 goals in the process.

Carlos Carvalhal is having to take things on the chin and keep quiet and battle with his inner emotions. For the Owls, it is a time to close ranks, dig in and chisel out a precious result.

4: Bradford v Burton. Bantams seek to spoil McLaughlin’s homecoming.

For the second time in seven days on home soil, opportunity knocks for City, who can move level on points with Barnsley with victory tonight against the surprise league leaders.

The game sees ex-Bantams custodian Jon McLaughlin make his first return to Valley Parade. The goalkeeper has been outstanding in Burton’s rise up the lower leagues, but everyone of a claret-and-amber persuasion will be keen for him not to show too much of his prowess tonight.

After a below-par performance at home to Colchester and a largely flat and uninspired spectacle at Bury at the weekend, the stakes have been raised with the arrival of the front-runners.

The game is the first of a run of three matches out of four on home soil, with a derby against Doncaster following at the weekend and the arrival of Millwall on Easter Saturday.

5: Scunthorpe United v Doncaster Rovers. How the visitors need history to repeat itself tonight.

When it comes to away grounds, Glanford Park probably figures close to the top of the list for Rovers fans, with around 1,500 expected to make the short journey to North Lincolnshire tonight.

The South Yorkshiremen, without a win in 10 debilitating games and in the midst of a crisis with a second relegation in three seasons being a real possibility, have won their last three games at the Iron and have lost just once in 13 visits.

Rovers fans will trade most things for victory tonight at a venue where several iconic moments have been served up over the years, from late winners to spectacular goals - step forward Kieron Brady in 1992 - and a milestone hat-trick for Mick Norbury in 1995.

Groundhog Day would be nice..
