Former Barnsley coach joins Rotherham United backroom set-up

Mark joins the Millers in the youth setup at the club and will work closely with Garreth Barker and his staff as they look to develop the next generation of talent at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

His most recent post was in the Academy structure at Barnsley, where he played an instrumental role in bringing through the likes of John Stones, Mason Holgate and James Bree.

Rotherham United Academy manager Garreth Barker expressed his delight at adding Burton’s experience to the youth structure and says he is looking forward to working with him as the club look to better their second-placed finish in Youth Alliance League.

He said: “We’re thrilled to be adding somebody with Mark’s credentials to our youth setup here at the club.

“We had a number of impressive candidates apply for the job but Mark really stood out and his CV speaks for itself.

“We have a very diligent and hard-working staff in the Academy here at Rotherham United and I am sure that Mark will fit right in with that.”
