Fringe players get chance to impress

Peter Taylor has vowed to experiment with his line-up after admitting the Bantams season is already over.

In the wake of Saturday's defeat at high-flying Bournemouth, Taylor promised fringe members of his squad would get the chance to impress.

Taylor said: "Everyone knows we are not going to go up or go down.

"So for the remaining games I have a chance to have a look at one or two players who have not played too much."

The Bantams turned in an under-par performance at Dean Court, losing out to Brett Pitman's goal late in the first half.

Taylor's side rarely threatened, going closest on the hour when Gavin Grant – on for the injured James Hanson – played in Gareth Evans, whose left-foot shot struck the bar.

Taylor admitted his side had under-performed, pointing the finger at poor fixture scheduling ahead of today's game against Macclesfield.

Taylor added: "You have to question the fixtures list when we have to travel all the way down to Bournemouth on a Saturday and then play at home on Monday.

"But even so, if I was rating my players I would give them about a five out of 10. And away from home you need them to be an eight or nine to get a result."

Taylor said of Hanson, who limped off five minutes into the second half: "James has a hamstring injury. It does not look too good and he will be out for a couple of weeks."
