Hide AdIt was a delightful evening for the Terriers, who also welcomed back Jonathan Hogg just 19 days after he was stretchered off against Bristol City.
The victory puts Huddersfield on 74 points with seven matches remaining - with a gap of ten points over seventh-placed Fulham.
Hogg’s introduction was the surprise of four changes made by David Wagner following the Terriers’ 1-0 defeat at Burton Albion on Saturday.
Forwards Elias Kachunga and Nakhi Wells returned to a team with just three goals in their last 450 minutes of football while German Philip Billing also came in to bolster the midfield.

Hogg received a warm reception from the home faithful on the brink of kick-off and the noise level stayed at a constant in a frantic opening for the hosts.
Billing clipped the outside of the post with a sweet left-footed strike on three minutes while Rajiv Van La Parra drilled across the face of goal.
Alex Pritchard was first to test Danny Ward at the other end after a neat turn outside the box - but his hit was straight at the Town goalkeeper, who fumbled the effort.

Norwich, whose season has hit the rocks after a promising run after Christmas, began to put their stamp on the game but the chances remained with the hosts as Aaron Mooy shot over and saw a second superbly blocked by Alex Tettry.
The danger signs were evident for Norwich when Wells raced through and shot into the legs of McGovern. The Bermudan striker also tested the Norwich stopped from 25 yards but it was beaten away.
Cameron Jerome had the ball in the net for Norwich on 54 minutes but referee Chris Kavanagh had already halted play for an infringement.

Mooy’s second was equally skilful as he dug the ball from under his right foot and forced it into the corner.
The points were sealed three minutes later as Wells placed the ball beyond McGovern after neat work by Rajiv Van la Parra.
