After the match Guiseley manager Mark Bower said: “I’m disappointing to lose, we played well at times, we just couldn’t take the chances we created.”

The first chance fell to the in-form Guiseley striker Liam Dickinson, who saw his header go narrowly over the bar.

But it was Lincoln who took the lead, when an Alan Power effort was bravely blocked, but it fell to Matt Rhead who made no mistake.

Guiseley nearly equalised on the half-hour mark, when Jake Lawlor just volleyed over from the edge of the area.

Rhead though should have got his second and doubled the Imps lead, when his powerful header was saved excellently by Guiseley goalkeeper Steven Drench.

The second half saw Guiseley have a good spell, with Brooksby and Hatfield producing attacking runs, which put Lincoln under pressure.

Guiseley then hit the bar, after George Maris struck a shot after being on the left-hand corner of the penalty area. Lincoln again thought they had doubled their lead but the dangerous Rhead was deemed offside after being found in the area by Chris Bush.

And try as they might Guiseley were unable to create further clear-cut chances as Lincoln left Nethermoor with the win.
