FC Halifax Town v Eastleigh: Aspin not afraid of big-spending rivals

Having lost heavily to today’s opponents already this season, FC Halifax Town know the visit of Eastleigh has the potential to be one of the club’s most testing fixtures.

However, manager Neil Aspin – fresh from his side beating Dartford in midweek with nine men – is adamant the Shaymen are capable of beating anyone in the Conference.

He said: “Eastleigh are obviously one of the teams with a massive budget. They can virtually sign anyone they want.

“So, they have got a lot of players that they can pick but, on any given day, we are capable of beating anyone in the league and we have shown that.”

The red cards in Halifax’s win at Dartford means both James Bolton and Lois Maynard will be suspended today.

Travelling so far on a Tuesday also took it out of a team that remains part-time but Aspin is, nevertheless, in bullish mood ahead of taking on an Eastleigh outfit that beat the Shaymen 4-1 in October.

He said: “That is a tough game. We need to get the players, recharge their batteries and get them ready for Eastleigh.

“We always have a chance, we don’t fear anyone but we also know that if we’re not at our 100 per cent best we can lose to anyone.”
