Hartlepool United v Bradford City: Taylor looks to stretch Flynn with Trophy role

JOHNSTONE'S PAINT TROPHYMICHAEL FLYNN will make his long-awaited return to action tonight as Bradford City travel to Hartlepool United looking to breathe fresh life into their season.

The 29-year-old has not featured all season after having to undergo a double hernia operation to cure a troublesome groin injury.

Flynn's influence has been sorely missed this season so his return at Victoria Park should, at least, lift some of the gloom surrounding the Bantams after a shocking start that has yielded more defeats than goals.

Progress in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy would be welcome, though Flynn's return could be more important come the weekend when City travel to fellow strugglers Barnet.

Manager Peter Taylor said: "Ideally I would like Michael Flynn to get fit and James Hanson to be playing like he was last season and get fit.

"If not we will have to try and get another striker. I want to give him (Flynn) half an hour on Tuesday night. I still think he is training within himself at the minute and hasn't stretched out. That is the big worry."
