Hartlepool United v Huddersfield Town: Draws are no good for us – Town chief

manager Lee Clark admits his Huddersfield Town side need to show a more ruthless streak ahead of tonight’s meeting with draw specialists Hartlepool United.

The Terriers head to the North-East still looking for their first league win of the season after stalemates against Bury and Rochdale.

Clark said: “Draws aren’t enough for us. We had some terrific opportunities to put the game to bed once in front against Rochdale but we didn’t take them.

“For some reason, we are being a little bit too intricate when the final pass is on and not just playing them.”

Hartlepool have drawn their last five games, including a Carling Cup first-round tie they eventually lost on penalties to Sheffield United.

Town goalkeeper Alex Smithies yesterday underwent surgery on his knee.
