Hereford United 3 Rotherham United 0: Millers suffer shock defeat

ROTHERHAM United manager Ronnie Moore had to warn his side at half-time that some of them were playing themselves out of contention for involvement in the play-offs.

This was neither the result nor the performance the Millers would have wanted having already made certain of qualification before this game.

"I think a few people had got their minds on next week," said Moore, who takes his side to Aldershot for the first leg of the League Two semi-final on Saturday.

"We had to remind them at half-time that there were places up for grabs for next week. There were those in danger of playing themselves out of the team.

"That first half wasn't acceptable and they knew it."

With top scorer Adam Le Fondre and midfielder Josh Walker both rested, Rotherham were a goal down after five minutes through Mathieu Manset.

Defender Darren Jones headed Hereford's second goal after 20 minutes from Kenny Lunt's centre.

Rotherham captain Ian Sharps had a header cleared off the line before half-time and just after Leon Constantine hit a post from a gilt-edged chance.

Rotherham gave an improved display after the interval and Nicky Law forced a good save from Adam Bartlett.

But Hereford had the final word in the last minute with a fine solo goal from winger Marc Pugh.
