Histon 1 York City 1: Minstermen'swinning run comes to end

YORK City failed to make it 10 league wins in a row when they were held to a draw at Histon last night.

Ben Purkiss gave Martin Foyle's men a 20th-minute lead in the Blue Square Premier clash but Bradley Hudson-Odoi levelled on the stroke of half-time to earn the Cambridgeshire villagers a point.

The result meant the Minstermen missed out on a chance to move two points behind league leaders Stevenage.

York forged ahead when Purkiss fired a low 18-yard drive into Danny Naisbitt's bottom right-hand corner.

But the visitors drew level two minutes before the break when Hudson-Odoi forced the ball home from a yard out after Lee Smith had met Gareth Gwillim's inswinging free kick.

Histon then went close to taking a half-time lead when Nat Knight-Percival headed over from Naisbitt's free kick into the penalty box.

The Minstermen made a bright start to the second half with Michael Gash forcing a low save from Naisbitt.
