Huddersfield intent on ending 57-year wait for away triumph against Derby

AFTER a performance on Tuesday which manager Mark Robins described as horrendous, the fixture list has afforded Huddersfield Town few favours today.

Town, reeling after an alarming eight-match winless streak at the worst possible time of their season, call in at Derby, a venue which has proved inhospitable to them for many years.

Visits to Pride Park and the Rams’ former Baseball Ground home have simply been wretched for Town, with both venues proving a house of pain for the West Yorkshire outfit.

All told, Derby are unbeaten in their last 19 meetings at home in all competitions against Town, winning 17.

You have to go back to November 1957 for Huddersfield’s last win there, in the old Division Two when the late, great Bill Shankly was in charge.

How joyously Town fans would greet a much-overdue victory in the East Midlands, for many reasons, the main one being to rubber-stamp safety for another campaign.

Midfield pair Duane Holmes and Jonathan Hogg, plus strikers Sean Scannell and Harry Bunn and defender Peter Clarke are all pushing for recalls with Mark Robins likely to make changes in his search for a winning formula.
