Huddersfield Town release quartet

TWO promotion heroes from Huddersfield Town’s memorable 2016-17 campaign in Elias Kachunga and Collin Quaner have left the club at the end of their contracts.

The German duo join Jon-Gorenc Stankovic – who has signed for Sturm Gruz in time for the 2020-21 season – in departing for pastures new, with keeper Joel Coleman and academy product Rekeil Pyke having also been freed by the club.

Kachunga netted 13 goals during Town’s promotion campaign, while Quaner earned his place in folklore with his vital contribution in the second leg of the Play-Off semi-final at Sheffield Wednesday.

Coleman made 19 appearances for Town, including the first leg of the aforementioned play-off final, while centre back Stanković made 46 appearances for the Terriers after joining in the summer of 2016.

Pyke progressed through the age groups in Town’s Academy and gained experience of football through the pyramid through several loan spells before making his debut at Fulham in February.

Meanwhile, young custodian Ryan Schofield and right-back Demeaco Duhaney have taken up options to stay with the club next season.

Schofield, 20, who progressed through the Town Academy, made his competitive Terriers debut this season in the 0-0 draw at home to Middlesbrough in October.

The England Under-20 international spent the second half of the curtailed season on loan at Scottish Premiership side Livingston.

Duhaney made his debut in the Premier League win over Wolves in late February 2019 and made six first-team appearances in 2019-20.

Meanwhile, loanees Trevoh Chalobah, Chris Willock, Andy King, Emile Smith Rowe and Jonas Lossl have all returned to their parent clubs.
