Hull City 1 Ipswich 0: We deserved win, says Tigers boss

HULL manager Nigel Pearson thought his side fully deserved their 1-0 win over Ipswich.

Robert Koren scored the winner with 13 minutes remaining to secure Hull's first home win in the Championship since September 14th.

He cut infield and beat Brian Murphy with a right-footed strike from distance.

Pearson said: "When you look at the last three home games we needed to get back to winning ways. We deserved to win the game and I think we were the only team trying to win it although there wasn't much fluidity in our performance.

"At the moment we don't have a lot of options with our offensive play and there was a bit of anxiety out there. That's understandable, but we have to be brave enough to deal with that.

"They set up today to try to get a draw. They've had a difficult run and set up to be solid and they knew we had been a little bit fragile at home.

"We struggled to break them down, but the overriding thing is the result, and to achieve back-to-back wins is part of our recovery process. Our points return is still looking unhealthy but we've looked more positive over the past three games. I'm very pleased for the players and our fans as well. We've had a really poor run at home, but it's good to get back to winning ways."

Hull owners-elect Assem and Ehab Allam were introduced to the fans before the game, and with the takeover expected to be completed by the end of this month, Pearson added: "The long-term future of the club is at least more certain. I'd like to think the fans feel there is more optimism about the stability of the club. The problems we have are complicated, but my remit is the same – to win games."
