Hull City hero on the way out

MOHAMED DIAME, Hull City's Wembley match-winner last May, could be heading out of the KCOM Stadium to Newcastle United after a release clause in his contract was activated by the North East club.

The 29-year-old is in the final year of his contract at the Tigers and Magpies manager Rafael Benitez sees the Senegal international as a fitting replacement for Moussa Sissoko, who is set to head out the exit door at St James’ Park.

Sources on Tyneside have indicated that Diame would be receptive to a move following the recent resignation of Steve Bruce.

Diame admitted last week that Bruce’s departure had felt like losing a “father” figure to the squad.

It is understood the release clause in the midfielder’s contract is around £3m.
