Hull City v Bristol City: Still time left for Tigers to clinch top two spot '“ Robert Snodgrass

The Tigers have slumped from top to fourth place thanks to a run of indifferent results that culminated in a dramatic last-gasp defeat at Middlesbrough on March 18.

After that, the international break gave Hull a respite that Snodgrass, who has been away with Scotland, believes could prove timely.

“The league doesn’t lie – if you don’t win your games you don’t get promoted,” said the former Leeds United wideman.

“The teams above us have to play each other, so there will be plenty of twists and turns to come.”

Hull’s season has unravelled through a sudden lack of goals. They have netted just three times in seven league outings, a run that has yielded just seven points.

This has allowed Burnley to open up a decent-sized lead at the top of the table, while both Boro and Brighton & Hove Albion have leapfrogged Steve Bruce’s men in the table.

Five points separate Hull from Brighton in second place, albeit with the Yorkshire club having a game in hand. The Seagulls face leaders Burnley today so if Hull can beat Lee Johnson’s Bristol City then some of that lost ground could be made up.

“We are in the chasing pack now and we will approach each game believing that we can win it,” said Snodgrass ahead of taking on the rejuvenated Robins in the East Riding. “We need to start taking the chances that we have been creating and, hopefully, that starts this weekend.

“It won’t be easy against Bristol City. They have put a few wins together during a good run under a new manager and it will be a tasty affair.”
