Birmingham City v Hull City: Hobbs backing Fryatt to deliver goals in Tigers’ promotion push

HULL CITY joint top scorer Matty Fryatt is being tipped to hit the scoring trail after ending his long wait for a goal.

The Tigers striker netted for the first time in 11 attempts in the weekend win over Bristol City.

It took his tally to nine for the season and Fryatt’s team-mate Jack Hobbs believes the frontman can start punishing Championship defences again.

Hull captain Hobbs said: “Matty was brilliant against Bristol City and a constant threat to their defence. He was a right nuisance, created chances and took his goal well. We are all delighted for him because he deserved it. That should do his confidence the world of good.

“He works hard every day and in training he is always doing his shooting practice, so it was only a matter of time.

“If you keep getting in the right areas and creating chances, the goals will come because he is a goalscorer.

“Matty might not be the biggest and you wouldn’t call him a target man, but he won his fair share of headers and it makes such a difference when we are clearing balls it’s not coming straight back.

“He also makes a lot of selfless running.”
