Fans celebrate Tigers’ feat at KC party

The KC Stadium was transformed into a blaze of amber and black as supporters celebrated the club’s return to the Premiership.

Manager Steve Bruce joined his players on a lap of honour in front of jubilant crowds to kick-start the city’s official celebrations.

They thanked the faithful thousands for their support as generations of fans packed into the ground. Chairman Assem Allam then presented the team with special medals.

Ehab Allam, who owns the club with son Assem, told reporters: “It feels fantastic to have done this for the city. It is an amazing feeling to gain promotion to the Premier League and now is the time to enjoy that.”

A 2-2 draw with Cardiff at the weekend was enough to propel the Tigers back into the Premier League after a three-year absence.

Proud supporter Steve Shreeve said the city is still celebrating the club’s achievement. But now he hopes that promotion will not only drive the club forward but help to boost Hull as a city.

Mr Shreeve said: “I think everyone was just overwhelmed with how quick it seems to have happened, especially from signing Steve Bruce as manager to then getting the team back into the Premier League.

“I think it will bring a lot of money into Hull and think people will have a bit more belief in Hull, the city and the team.”

Now Mr Shreeve is looking forward to seeing his favourites take on giants such as Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal next season.

Mr Shreeve added: “I think it is everyone’s dream, no matter what team you are.

“We have been in the Championship for so long but getting out of there and into the Premier League is one of the hardest achievements a team can do.”
