Hull City begin building for next season with Manchester United signing

HULL City have completed the permanent signing of Manchester United defender Joe Dudgeon.

The Leeds-born left-back, 20, who has signed a three-year contract after the clubs agreed an undisclosed fee, had a spell on loan with Carlisle this season but made only two appearances due to a knee injury.

Hull manager Nigel Pearson said: “Joe is another very promising young player and I think he’ll be a very good acquisition for us.

“He’s been schooled at an outstanding club. For us, it is about trying to get the right players in, not just in terms of the football side of it, but also in terms of their own mentality.”

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Matt Duke, striker Craig Fagan, defender Anthony Gardner and midfielder Tijani Belaid have all been released by the Tigers.

QPR have announced they will not be holding a victory parade to celebrate winning the npower Championship title.

The club have given no reason for the decision, other than to say it is partly down to `factors beyond our control`.

However, Rangers revealed plans are already in place for a pre-season celebration when the players return to training in July.

A club statement read: “Regrettably, the club can confirm that, for a number of reasons, we will not be holding an end-of-season parade following our promotion to the Premier League.

“We know this will be a huge disappointment to our fans, who have been fantastic this season, and everyone at the club shares this view.

“The club held discussions about putting on such a celebration a number of weeks ago but, unfortunately, the ongoing FA inquiry, coupled with other factors beyond our control, prevent this from happening.”
