Hull City: Fryatt’s comeback for the Tigers put back

Matty Fryatt has been ruled out until at least next month after seeing a specialist about his troublesome Achilles.

The 26-year-old has been absent since pre-season but the Tigers were hoping last season’s top scorer could return before the international break.

Those hopes, however, have been dashed following Fryatt’s visit to a specialist in London.

He was given an injection in the troublesome area and Steve Bruce is now resigned to being without the striker for an extended period.

He said: “Matty has seen the specialist and had an injection into his Achilles, which isn’t very nice,” said Bruce.

“He’s got to stay off that Achilles for three or four days now and then it’s a matter of in two or three weeks’ time, seeing where he is then.”

Without Fryatt, Hull lost 1-0 at Blackburn on Wednesday after Bruce fielded a 3-5-2 formation for the first time as manager.

He added: “I thought the system suited us.”
