James Scott eager to get Hull City climbing up the Championship

James Scott believes the point which Hull City earned from their trip to Birmingham will prove to be an important one in the club’s battle for survival.

The Tigers ended a sequence of five consecutive defeats and edged out of the Championship relegation zone courtesy of a 3-3 draw at St Andrew’s on Saturday.

But, having dominated the first half and then led 3-2 up until the 88th minute, the East Yorkshiremen spurned a glorious opportunity to end a sequence of 13 games without a win.

Scott, however, was determined to take the positives out of the result, insisting that he and his City team-mates now have something to build on ahead of Thursday’s crunch clash with relegation rivals Middlesbrough.

“We should’ve had all three points, but it was still a massive point as it took us out of the bottom three,” said the 19-year-old.

“It was an unbelievable game. I thought we were brilliant in the first half, but it was just so frustrating to score three goals away from home and still not come away with all three points.

“We can’t let our heads drop though. We’ve got another match to prepare for against Middlesbrough on Thursday, which is a massive game and one that we’ll go into determined to build on this result as we look to get back to winning ways.”

Scott, a January arrival from Motherwell, made his full debut for the Tigers against Birmingham and marked the occasion with a goal, heading home Leo Da Silva Lopes’ 16th-minute cross.

“To get my first goal for the club was a great moment for me,” added the Scotland under-21 international, who suffered ankle ligament damage in his very first training session as a Hull player.

“It was a dream come true, especially on what was my first start after four or five months out.

“I’m delighted to get off the mark and the aim now is to kick on and score more goals for Hull.”
