The 26-year-old Wales international was given permission to leave the Tigers’ training camp in Austria after agreement was reached over an £8m fee with the Baggies.

That, however, has since been usurped by Leicester making their own offer for a defender who has less than 12 months remaining on his contract at the KC Stadium.

West Brom’s initial bid is believed worth up to £8m should all the clauses in the deal be triggered while Chester is an Albion player.

Former Manchester United defender Chester is out of contract at the KC Stadium next year and the Tigers are now keen to cash in following relegation from the Barclays Premier League.

He made 171 appearances for Hull - scoring eight goals - after signing from Old Trafford in 2011 and is set to become part of Pulis’ revolution at West Brom.
