Tigers closing in on Barmby’s successor

HULL City’s search for a new manager could come to an end over the weekend.

The Tigers have spent the past month or so hunting for Nick Barmby’s successor and are believed to have narrowed the field down to two names.

Talks have taken place between vice chairman Ehab Allam and the two candidates over the past few days and sources in the East Riding have indicated an announcement is imminent.

Whether that will be sometime today or over the weekend remains to be seen with the board having remained tight-lipped throughout the process.

Carlisle United chief Greg Abbott is among those to be heavily linked with the vacancy along with Lee Clark, Gary Megson and Steve Bruce.

The Yorkshire Post understands, however, that Bruce was never under consideration, while both Clark and Megson have not been contacted by the Hull board despite, at various stages, having led the betting market to replace Nick Barmby.
