The winger made a January loan switch from parent club Rangers to League One promotion contenders Sunderland in an effort to secure first team football earlier this season, and has gone on to make quite the impact on Wearside.
The 26-year-old has already registered two goals and three assists for Lee Johnson’s men, and his arrival has helped to diversify and strengthen a frontline that is firmly gunning for a return to the Championship.
His performances haven’t gone unnoticed either, and it has been reported that several Championship clubs are keeping an eye on his situation going into the summer transfer window.
Barnsley are one of the sides credited with an interest in securing his services, but could face competition from the likes of Middlesbrough, Cardiff City, and Stoke City.
Promisingly, Hutton is of the opinion that he is likely to leave the Gers on a permanent basis in the coming months.
Speaking to Football Insider, he said: "I just feel his time at Rangers, he’s had enough opportunities.
"It’s not quite worked out.
"The player has to think of himself as well – he obviously wasn’t happy when he was there.”
Jones scored just one goal in 19 appearances for Steven Gerrard's side after joining on a free transfer from Kilmarnock in 2019.
Elsewhere, QPR are said to be keen on signing Huddersfield Town midfielder Alex Pritchard.
The 27-year-old has struggled for consistent game time with the Terriers this season, and 12 of his 18 Championship appearances have come from the bench.
With that in mind, the R’s are understood to be interested in offering a move to the capital on the promise of a more prominent first team role, as per Football League World.
This isn’t the first time that Pritchard has been linked with a move to QPR, with Mark Warburton's men also credited with an interest back in January by the Daily Mail.
The midfielder has worked with Warburton before during a shared spell with Brentford in 2014/15.
