Joe Lolley heads out of Huddersfield to Scunthorpe in loan deal

The former Kidderminster player, who came on as a late substitute in Thursday night’s 1-1 Championship draw with Nottingham Forest, links up with Town team-mate Murray Wallace at Iron - managed by ex-Town chief Mark Robins.

Speaking ahead of last night’s game, chairman Dean Hoyle said that there was a possibility that Lolley would move out on a short-term loan to boost his game-time levels in the near future.

On the move regarding Lolley, who was linked with Peterborough United last month, manager Chris Powell said: “I believe it is very important to Joe’s development that he plays regular football at this stage, but that is not something I can currently offer him due to the performances of Sean Scannell, Mustapha Carayol, Harry Bunn and the arrival of Jamie Paterson.

“As a result, the opportunity for Joe to join Scunthorpe for a month is an excellent one. I’m really looking forward to seeing Joe play and perform for Mark Robins’ team.

“It is important that I stress this move is designed purely to get Joe consistent time on the pitch to aid his development.

“I’ve talked on several occasions about what an exciting talent he is, but equally he has had a few niggling injuries during my time at Huddersfield and it has taken him some time to adjust to full time football after his rapid rise up the football pyramid in 2014.

“Everyone at the club is excited about Joe’s future, so hopefully he will excel during his time at Scunthorpe and return to us ready to make an impact on our team in the Championship.”
