Kieran Sadlier linked to Hull City after rejecting new Doncaster Rovers deal

The League One outfit have offered fresh terms to five out-of-contract players – including veteran midfielder James Coppinger and utility man Matty Blair, alongside Danny Amos and Louis Jones.

Rovers have also taken up an option on promising young midfielder AJ Greaves, keeping him at the club until 2021.

The club’s retained list also reveals that Devante Cole and Alex Baptiste have departed the club.

Losing Sadlier will be a blow for Rovers, with the winger, linked with a move to Hull City, topping the scoring charts with 12 goals in 40 games in 2019-20.

The Haywards Heath-born player, 25, was offered a new contract midway through last season, but has elected to leave under freedom of contract, despite manager Darren Moore’s hopes that he might still remain at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Record appearance holder Coppinger, 39, who joined the club in 2004, has been offered the chance to remain at Doncaster for a 17th successive season.

Speaking about his footballing future to The Yorkshire Post at the end of May, the Guisborough-born midfielder spoke of his desire to play on, whether at Rovers or elsewhere.

He said: “After reaching 35, every year I have tried to earn a contract and I feel like I have done that.

“I have had the most assists in our team (in 2019-20) and am up there in the division, despite not playing as many minutes.

“I feel like, just because of my age, I shouldn’t go: ‘yes, that’s it’.”

Out-of-contract Under-23 squad players Max Watters, Shane Blaney, Rieves Boocock, Myron Gibbons, and Rian McLean have not been offered new deals and have left the club.
