Lee Novak confident Bradford City can regain play-off spot

Bradford City need to rapidly rediscover the consistency that has eluded them in recent months if they want to reignite their promotion push.

The Bantams have not managed back-to-back wins in League Two since New Year’s Day as they prepare to host Plymouth Argyle tomorrow.

Newly-signed striker Lee Novak scored in his first two City appearances, helping the Bantams pick up four points from six on offer. But another slump in form has saw Bradford lose back-to-back away games as they now find themselves four points from the play-off places.

“Hopefully we start on Saturday and put a run of wins together. It is what we need to do to get back up there,” said former Huddersfield Town forward Novak who signed for City from Scunthorpe United in the January transfer window.

“We believe. It is only a couple of wins and you are back in the picture. We have to go out there and get the win and hopefully that starts on Saturday.”

Plymouth haven’t been beaten in four matches and Novak knows what the Pilgrims are all about, having faced them twice with Scunthorpe already this season.

“They are a very good team, I played them twice with Scunthorpe. The table doesn’t lie and they are up there for a reason,” said Novak of the division’s fourth-placed club.

“They are strong and good going forward but we have to focus on how we can hurt them and hopefully we will do that.”

Novak was delighted to enjoy a prolific start to his Bantams career and hopes that a return to home soil tomorrow will coincide with a return to the scoresheet.

He added: “I would like more goals but more importantly, more wins. The goals were a massive boost, it is always good to get off to a good start at a new club and lucky for me I did that.”
