Leeds and Boro head to Premier League opponents

Leeds United and Middlesbrough, Yorkshire's last two survivors in the Carabao Cup, have been handed difficult assignments in the last 16 of the competition.

Both Championship clubs will head to Premier League opposition, with Leeds – victors over top-flight outfit Burnley on penalties in the third round on Tuesday night – headed to Leicester City and Boro bound for Bournemouth.

Holders Manchester United will travel to Swansea in the fourth round.

Jose Mourinho’s side beat Championship Burton 4-1 at Old Trafford last night to secure their place in the draw.

Seven months on from lifting the trophy at Wembley, Jose Mourinho’s men kicked off their defence by swatting aside the Sky Bet Championship side with Marcus Rashford to the fore.

Chelsea, 5-1 winners against Nottingham Forest, will welcome Everton to Stamford Bridge.

Michy Batshuayi scored a hat-trick as Chelsea provided a glimpse of the future last night.

Kenedy and the impressive Charly Musonda were also on target and Tendayi Darikwa scored a late consolation for Forest as the Premier League champions advanced to the fourth round with ease.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin netted a brace and Oumar Niasse also got on the scoresheet as Everton’s miserable run of form came to an end with a 3-0 victory over Championship strugglers Sunderland at Goodison Park.

Tottenham, who defeated Barnsley on Tuesday night, host London rivals West Ham at Wembley and Manchester City entertain Championship Wolves.

Arsenal will also welcome Championship opposition to the Emirates in the shape of Norwich.

Crystal Palace, conquerors of Premier League rivals Huddersfield Town on Tuesday, will be wary of an upset when they travel to Bristol City.

The fourth-round draw took place on familiar turf – and at a reasonable hour – in the Sky Sports studios in west London, rather than its controversial trip to Bangkok or the bizarre decision to hold it in Beijing in the early hours of the 
morning.

Mercifully, Charlie Nicholas and Phil Thompson also avoided any John Salako-like confusion over who was playing at home or away as they drew out the balls.

The ties will take place during the week commencing October 23.
