Leeds United co-owner Andrea Radrizzani meets Garry Monk and first team squad

Andrea Radrizzani began life as Leeds United co-owner in earnest with tours of the club's Thorp Arch training ground and Elland Road stadium yesterday.

The 42-year-old Italian flew into England last night night and travelled to Thorp Arch with chief executive Ben Mansford twiceto introduce himself to staff at the complex.

He met with head coach Garry Monk and addressed the club’s first-team squad ahead of an evening training session and Radrizzani will be present at Elland Road tomorrow for Leeds’ Championship game against Derby.

His deal with Massimo Cellino saw him acquire a 50 per cent share in Leeds last week and his appointment to United’s board was confirmed by Companies House on Wednesday.

He has already given Monk his backing, saying he was pleased with the club’s form under the 37-year-old this season, and Monk’s players will have an immediate chance to impress him during tomorrow's league game.

Radrizzani and Cellino are due to appear together and speak publicly for the first time since finalising their investment deal at a press conference on Saturday morning.

Meanwhile, United’s league game at home to Nottingham Forest has been moved to Wednesday, January 25 (ko 7.45pm) after the Elland Road club’s progression to the FA Cup’s fourth round.

Leeds were due to host Forest two weeks tomorrow but Garry Monk’s squad will now meet AFC Wimbledon or Sutton United in the FA Cup over the weekend of January 28. A 2-1 victory at Cambridge United on Monday carried Leeds through the third round, 48 hours after Forest were eliminated by Wigan Athletic
