17-4: Leeds worth a speculative punt against Blackburn

The 49-year-old said there’d be games that Leeds would be fancied to win but won’t - and games they’d win that the Whites weren’t expected to.

There’s no reason why Saturday’s trip to Blackburn can’t be an example of the latter and Leeds look worth a speculative investment at 17-4 with Bet365.

Blackburn sit just one point outside the Championship play-offs in seventh and the bookies expect a home win this weekend.

Odds of 8-11 are the best you’ll get about Gary Bowyer’s side but since when was any odds-on investment in the Championship a good one?

Maybe the odd exception was two weekends back when Whites followers were tipped to plough into Leeds beating Blackpool which they did, hopefully meaning there’s a bit of ammo left for this weekend.

It’s hard to disagree that Blackburn shouldn’t be short-priced favourites.

Rovers have sorted themselves out under Bowyer - they are unbeaten in seven and their only league loss at Ewood Park this term came against leaders Derby County back in August when Blackburn were all over the place.

There’ll be plenty lumping into Rovers at 8-11 but there seems a refreshing new air of confidence about Leeds under Redfearn who will instruct his men to attack at Blackburn.

The Whites could be a different breed following the recent international break and Redfearn said on Thursday how he wanted his side to scare other Championship opponents - not the other way around.

And it’s not like Blackburn are massively dominant at home, hard to beat yes, but Huddersfield, Watford and Cardiff have all drawn there which should give hope to Leeds.

Bearing in mind the potency of Rudy Gestede and Jordan Rhodes upfront, it seems reasonable to expect Blackburn to score but it would be disappointing should the Whites not also make a breakthrough, especially given Redfearn’s attacking instructions.

The problem is that both teams to score is a pretty unattractive best-priced 3-4 shot with Ladbrokes but that would still be the recommendation with a very small wager on Leeds at 17-4 with Bet365.

For those feeling slightly less optimistic but still hopeful that the Whites will return with something, a draw can be backed at 3-1 with Boylesports.

That was very tempting as the main recommendation.

Failing that, take the double option of either a Leeds win or draw at 5-4 with Bet365 - or a Leeds win with a draw no bet at 13-5?

But to save messing around, 17-4 about a ‘surprise’ Whites win might just be the option - perhaps with a saver on Gestede to score any time at 7-5 with Bet365.

He’s bagged ten goals already this term and if it all goes Pete Tong, Gestede will likely be the villain of the piece.
