Adryan proves to Milanic he is ready to step up if required

The 20-year-old arrived at 
Elland Road on loan from Flamenco amid much fanfare shortly before the summer transfer window closed.

Strenuous efforts were made to push through a deal that also sees Leeds able to make his capture permanent at the end of the season for around £2.5m.

Despite that, Adryan, who has represented Brazil at Under-20s level, has yet to feature in the first team with his only involvement in a United shirt being with the 
Under-21s development squad.

Milanic said: “Adryan played on Monday (against QPR) with the Under-21 team in their championship and he did very well.

“That means he is ready. He played well. I saw him for the first time and I will think about him.”

Tomorrow will see Milanic go for a first win of his reign at the third attempt and the new head coach saw plenty against Reading to encourage him in Wednesday’s goalless draw.

He said: “Against Reading it was better (than in last Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Brentford), much better.

“But, like our fans, I want the team to create chances, to play forward and have tempo. But we need to be calm, too.”

Meanwhile, United president Massimo Cellino’s trial over a second Italian tax evasion charge has been delayed until October 22.

The case – in which the Italian is accused of failing to pay around £65,000 of import duty owed on a private yacht called ‘Lucky 23’ – was adjourned until later this month at a court hearing in Cagliari yesterday.

Cellino was previously found guilty of avoiding almost £400,000 of tax due on a different boat named ‘Nelie’. He is appealing against that conviction.
