The Reds are reportedly set for a cash bonanza if former defender John Stones leaves Everton for Chelsea or Manchester United - possibly over £5m.

Chelsea tabled an opening bid of £20m for England international Stones, who left Oakwell for Goodison Park for £3m in January 2013.

The Stamford Bridge outfit saw their bid rejected, with reports suggesting they are prepared to go up to around £30m with various add-ons, although Everton are holding out for a £36m fee.

Manchester United are also monitoring developments and keen on Stones, with weekend reports also stating that Everton are hoping to prompt a bidding war between Chelsea and big-spending Manchester City - although the latter have yet to make a firm offer, despite making enquiry.

On the sale of Stones to Everton, Barnsley inserted a sell-on clause, which some reports suggest was worth 15 per cent of any future deal.

If Everton receive their sought-for fee of over £30m, then Barnsley could reportedly be a line for a windfall of over £5m.

Meanwhile, former Whites winger Gradel, who left Elland Road for Saint-Etienne in 2011, is wanted by Bournemouth, who the 27-year-old played for earlier in his career.

Gradel recently posted what appeared to be a goodbye message to Saint-Etienne fans on social media, with the ex-Cherries loanee has been heavily linked with a summer switch and has made public his desire to move on from the Ligue 1 club.

Some reports have suggested that Bournemouth have won the race to sign him for a £5m plus fee with the south coast club agreeing personal terms with the player, while some other suggestions abound that Watford have met Saint-Etienne’s asking price.

Either way, Gradel is set for pastures new and with Leeds negotiating a ten per cent sell-on fee following the sale of the Ivory Coast international, they are now poised for a windfall.

The deal is expected to go through once Saint-Etienne complete their Europa League qualifying matches.

On his future, Gradel tweeted: Gradel, “Thank you very much for everything... thanks again” in French, further fuelling the spinning rumour mill.”
