FINAL WHISTLE: Wins for Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield Town, Hull City, Doncaster Rovers, Rotherham United, Bradford City and York City; defeats for Barnsley and Sheffield United; Leeds United draw

Sheffield Wednesday snatched a drmatic late winner against Carlisle United to close the gap on promotion rivals Sheffield United to just one point in League One.

Michail Antonio’s stoppage time winner gave the Owls a deserved three points while the Blades slumped 1-0 at MK Dons.

Elsewhere, Huddersfield Town secured their place in the play-offs with a 1-0 win over Scunthorpe while Rotherham United remain on contention for a League Two play-off spot after a 3-2 home win against Morecambe.

In the Championship, there were wins for Doncaster Rovers and Hull City, Leeds United held Cardiff to a 1-1 draw but Barnsley crashed to a 2-0 defeat at Bristol City.

York City are guaranteed a play-off spot in the Conference after beating Braintree.

An own goal from Chris Gunter and Matty Fryatt penalty gave the Tigers victory. Radoslaw Majewski pulled a consolation goal back for Forest in stoppage time.

Luciano Becchio equalised with 15 minites remaining after Joe Mason had given the hosts a first-half lead.

Coventry City 0 Doncaster Rovers 2

A James Hayter penalty and Simon Gillett effort gave Dean Saunders’s team victory and saw Coventry relegated to League One.

Bristol City 2 Barnsley 0

Goals from Cole Skuse and a Jon Stead penalty saw the hosts make sure of safety in the Championship against fellow strugglers Barnsley.

Milton Keynes Dons 1 Sheffield United 0

Former Leeds United striker Alan Smith scored the only goal of the game to put a dent in the Blades’ automatic promotion hopes.

Sheffield Wednesday 2 Carlisle United 1

The Owls needed a stoppage time winner from Michail Antonio to earn a deserved victory. Chris Lines put the Owls in front before James Berrett equalised with nine minutes to go.

James Hanson’s second-half strike was enough to earn the Bantams all three points.

Rotherham United 3 Morecambe 2

Ten-man Millers grabbed a late Lewis Grabban winner. Rotherham twice led through Grabban and Jason Taylor, but were pegged back with goals from Jordan Barrow and Jack Redshaw. Ryan Cresswell was sent off for Millers.

Braintree 0 York City 1

Erik Tonne’s second-half strike proved decisive and secured York’s place in the Conference play-offs.
