Latest: Weekend team news from Hull City, Leeds United, Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley, Doncaster Rovers, Huddersfield Town, Sheffield United, Rotherham United, Bradford City and York City

In the Championship, Barnsley, Doncaster Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday will be looking to kickstart their seasons, while Leeds United will look to bounce back against Burnley after defeat midweek to Reading.

Huddersfield Town face their former £8m striker Jordan Rhodes as they face Blackburn Rovers.

Newcastle United v Hull City

Team news: The Tigers welcome back Yannick Sagbo from suspension, but will be without midfielder Robert Koren for six to eight weeks after scans revealed he cracked a bone in his foot on the opening day at Chelsea. Defender Maynor Figueroa has returned to Honduras on compassionate grounds - although he was set to miss today’s game with a groin injury. Paul McShane (hamstring) is out, but Robbie Brady, who has been suffering with a stomach muscle problem, is okay. Gedo remains short of match fitness.

Birmingham City v Sheffield Wednesday

Team news: Midfielder Stephen McPhail and defender Roger Johnson are set to make their Owls debuts after arriving in midweek. Right-back Lewis Buxton could also start after returning from injury.

Blackburn Rovers v Huddersfield Town

Team news: New signing Jazz Richards is hoping to make his full debut for Town after arriving on loan from Swansea. His debut had been delayed over getting FIFA clearance. Calum Woods, Oliver Norwood and Oscar Gobern are pushing for recalls.

Leeds United v Burnley

Team news: Regular left-back Stephen Warnock starts a one-match ban after his red card at Reading on Wednesday, so Aidy White is handed a rare chance by United manager Brian McDermott. Lee Peltier (groin) is out and there could be a recall for right-back Sam Byram after injury.

Barnsley v Watford

Team news: The Reds have injury doubts over Tomas Cywka, Jim O’Brien and Stephen Dawson after the midweek defeat at Bournemouth. Marcus Pedersen (foot) is definitely out. Goalkeeper Luke Steele plays after on-loan Mike Pollitt returned to Wigan injured.

Doncaster Rovers v Nottingham Forest

Team news: Richie Wellens and Reece Wabara both picked up injuries in the midweek defeat at Watford and are rated 50/50. Marc De Val Fernandez and Jamie McCombe are out with long-term injuries.

Middlesbrough v Bournemouth

Team news: Hungarian loanee Jozsef Varga is fit after a hip problem. Marvin Emnes (groin) will be assessed, as will Stuart Parnaby (ankle). Emmanuel Ledesma starts a three-match ban.

Sheffield United v Preston North End

Team news: Jamie Murphy is back in contention for the Blades, who also have Febian Brandy back after a three-match suspension and new signing Marlon King set to play.

Gillingham v Bradford City

Team news: Bradford chief Phil Parkinson’s only concern is Carl McHugh, who has carried over a nagging groin problem from pre-season with the defender aggravating the injury last week. Mark Yeates is fit.

Walsall v Rotherham United

Team news: The Millers are again without Michael O’Connor but captain Craig Morgan could return after injury which offsets the loss of fellow defender Claude Davis who is set to be out for a month with his hamstring injury. Loan signing Tom Eaves could start.

Wycombe Wanderers v York City

Team news: Richard Cresswell is suspended, but fellow striker Ryan Bowman is available again after an identical three-match ban. Otherwise, boss Nigel Worthington boasts a fullish pack to choose from and reports no fresh injury worries.
