A deal has been agreed in principle following a meeting between the investors and Cellino in Miami on Tuesday and is now just waiting the final signature - and Cellino is hoping to complete the deal on Friday.

The deal involves a 10m Euros initial payment plus a further 67m Euros on the approval of Cagliari’s new stadium.

An agreement has been reached, with a letter of intent reportedly drafted.

Former Inter Millan director Tommaso Giulini, 37, had also been in the bidding and at one stage was believed to be Cellino’s preferred options.

But Cellino subsequently engaged into discussions with the US group after seemingly bowing to pressure from Cagliari fans to speak to them.

Cellino has been in charge of the Serie A side since 1992, but had been looking to sell since taking control of Leeds and concentrate his energies on his new acquisition.
