Leeds United: No changes for Norwich clash

The Slovenian said he had no intention of abandoning his tactics or rethinking his plans after taking only two points from four games in charge of Leeds.

A second-half fightback from Rotherham United denied Milanic a maiden win on Friday night as Rotherham recovered from a Mirco Antenucci goal to force a 2-1 victory at the New York Stadium.

Milanic claimed Leeds were undone after half-time by Rotherham’s direct and “long-ball” style but said he would not entertain the possibility of Leeds adopting a similar approach.

“We want to play, we want to have good possession and we want to make difficult combination play,” Milanic said.

“The players need the characteristics where we don’t play long balls.

“Rotherham had a simple style of football – a lot of crosses, a lot of challenges, playing into the box very simply.

“It was difficult and we were under pressure but not every game is like this.

“I talked with the team about Rotherham and said they would play that way but we made mistakes, easy mistakes.

“I’m not happy and that’s normal. There were good moments in the game and we could have had a result but it’s not good.”

Norwich are fourth in the Championship, 10 places above Leeds, after defeat at Fulham on Saturday knocked them off the top of the table.

Brazilian midfielder Adryan made his United debut towards the end of their loss against Rotherham, producing a lively display as Leeds chased a point, and the on-loan Flamengo player is vying for more chances after waiting a month-and-a-half for his first appearance.

“It was a very positive thing,” Milanic said. “He played very well. There are a lot of games and I will give him a chance.”
