Leeds on verge of completing deal for Taylor

LEEDS United is on the verge of signing triallist goalkeeper Maik Taylor.

Simon Grayson is keen to bring in another goalkeeper due to Alex McCarthy’s loan stay from Reading ending on December 3.

Andy Lonergan is 10 days or so away from a return after dislocating his finger so Taylor would provide useful back-up. Paul Rachubka was signed to fill that role last summer but his performance in the 5-0 thrashing by Blackpool is likely to make a first-team return unlikely.

Rachubka did, though, make a return to action yesterday in a friendly at Thorp Arch against a Blackpool XI as goals from Mikael Forssell and Sanchez Payne sealed a 2-0 win.
