Hull City suffered a 4-2 defeat to Middlesbrough to dent their play-off hopes, while Barnsley slipped to a narrow loss at Watford.

Hide AdSheffield Wednesday were held 1-1 at Walsall in League One, while in League Two Bradford City are still not clear of relegation after a heavy defeat at Accrington Stanley.
York City lost 2-1 at Darlington in the Blue Square Premier.

Jay Simpson put City in front, before Scott McDonald (10, 11, 45) and Julio Arca (26) gave Boro the lead. Anthony Gerrard (69) replied.
Sheffield United 3 Bristol City 2
An own goal from goalkeeper Steve Simonsen gave visitors the lead, before United replied through Lee Williamson and David McAllister. Nicky Maynard was red carded for Bristol, as was Harry Maguire for United, Brett Pitman converting a second-half penalty for City. Jordan Slew (87) grabbed a winner for United.
Watford 1 Barnsley 0
John Eustace (2) scored an early Hornets winner.

Goals from Luke Joyce, Andy Procter and Sean McConville gave Stanley a 3-0 victory.

No goals in first half, but Tommy Wright (55) broke deadlock for hosts before Ian Miller (56) doubled their advantage. Chris Carruthers (87) replied for York.
