One of the best: Snodgrass in tribute to ex-Leeds teammate

Robert Snodgrass has paid a warm tribute to Ross McCormack following his former Leeds United team-mate’s recall to the Scotland squad.

Snodgrass, right, who left Leeds for Norwich City in a £3million transfer last summer, said his fellow Scot was “one of the best players I’ve played with” after a week in which McCormack signed a new four-year deal at Elland Road.

The improved contract with United arrived a matter days after McCormack’s selection by Scotland coach Gordon Strachan ended his international exile.

The 27-year-old has been called up for World Cup qualifiers against Belgium and Maecedonia on Friday and Tuesday respectively and Snodgrass believes McCormack will help to reform a new attacking line for the Scots following the recent retirement of veteran Kenny Miller.

Snodgrass said: “I played with Ross and he’s one of the best players I’ve played with. We’ve got loads of players who can score goals.”

Snodgrass and McCormack, right, were team-mates at Leeds for two seasons.
