Peltier shows his versatility with United after defensive changes

AFTER a head-spinning few days in which he filled every position in the Leeds United back four, Lee Peltier could be forgiven for spending the first few days of the international break lying down in a darkened room.

The 25-year-old started at right-back a week ago at Bolton as United claimed a 2-2 draw but had switched to left-back by the time Saturday’s derby with Barnsley kicked off on Saturday.

Within 20 minutes, Peltier was on the move again as manager Neil Warnock responded to his side getting the runarund from the Reds by switching to a back three with the former Huddersfield Town defender joining Jason Pearce and Tom Lees in the new-look United set-up.

All in all, therefore, a challenging time for the Leeds captain. Not, however, that he is complaining.

He said: “I’ve been playing in a few different positions this season, not just the last couple of games. Centre-back, right-back and left-back but I am happy to play anywhere.

“It is all about getting three points on the board and seeing where that takes us. We all dig in, and the team spirit within us is really good from the staff to the players.

“We all get on and know that we are in it together. Without a doubt, there is more togetherness (at Leeds) than I have seen elsewhere.”

The togetherness Peltier speaks of is a major factor in why Leeds went into the break sitting seventh in the table, separated from the play-off places on only goal difference.

United are next in action against Sheffield Wednesday a week on Friday in front of the live cameras, a trip that is certain to bring a hostile reception for manager Neil Warnock.

On the man who brought him to Elland Road last summer, Peltier said: “The gaffer is great and very experienced in this league. He knows how to get out of it. He’s stamped his authority on the team now.”
