Otherwise, Paul McShane is City’s biggest doubt ahead of today’s trip to the West Midlands.

Bolton Wanderers v Barnsley

Team news: David Perkins (hamstring) remains sidelined for the Reds, while boss Keith Hill may err on the side of caution regarding top-scorer Craig Davies, still feeling his way back following a hamstring injury.

Cardiff City v Middlesbrough

Team news: Josh McEachran (ankle) is a big doubt for the Teessiders, with boss Tony Mowbray sweating on his fitness. Rhys Williams, Muzzy Carayol, Curtis Main and Julio Arca remain on the sidelines.

Huddersfield Town v Brighton & Hove Albion

Team news: James Vaughan is due to be sent for another scan on his troublesome thigh injury early next week so is again missing, while Simon Grayson describes Jermaine Beckford as “touch and go” in terms of whether he will be fit to face the Seagulls after being taken off at Barnsley last week with a hamstring strain. If both players miss out, Simon Church is likely to make his home debut partnering Lee Novak up front.

Millwall v Leeds United

Team news: Ross McCormack is likely to return on the bench but Lee Peltier (ankle) is a doubt after not training all week. Rodolph Austin is out after breaking a bone in his ankle, while both Jason Pearce and Michael Brown miss the trip to south London through suspension.

Nottingham Forest v Sheffield Wednesday

Team news: Chris Lines is back in contention following a groin injury. Reda Johnson remains on the sidelines, while Chris O’Grady is set to be out for at least two weeks, with the pair suffering from foot injuries.

League One

Portsmouth v Doncaster Rovers

Team news: Rovers are hopeful that skipper Rob Jones will return following a head injury. Jamie McCombe (back) and Kyle Bennett (knee) remain sidelined.

Sheffield United v Stevenage

Team news: Blades boss Danny Wilson could be forced into a defensive shake-up as regular full-backs Tony McMahon and Matt Hill are struggling with hamstring injuries. The pair hobbled off after sustaining the injuries in the first-half in the 1-0 defeat at MK Dons last weekend. Definitely out is striker Dave Kitson, who is also ruled out of Tuesday’s home game with Crewe with a hamstring injury.

Young midfielder Matthew Harriott has joined Alfreton Town on loan.

Bradford City v Exeter City

Team news: James Meredith and Zavon Hines will be missing for the Bantams today after suffering injuries in the midweek FA Cup win over Northampton Town. Carl McHugh is likely to switch from the centre to full-back, with loanee John Egan returning after having to sit out the penalty shoot-out triumph. Craig Forsyth also returns but Stephen Darby is a doubt with a hip problem.

Port Vale v York City

Team news: Oli Johnson is struggling with a stomach strain and Scott Kerr is out suspended following his red card in the FA Cup defeat to AFC Wimbledon. But loanee Alex Rodman is back after having to sit out the first round replay at Kingsmeadow to give manager Gary Mills an extra option.

Rotherham United v Cheltenham Town

Team news: The Millers are still without key man Kari Arnason (shoulder), out for another two or three weeks and monitoring the fitness of Craig Morgan (ankle). Scott Shearer, Lionel Ainsworth and Dale Tonge are still missing. David Noble, on the mend following an ankle injury, could be in line for a bench spot.
