Transfer latest: Hull defender Hobbs makes Forest switch

Reading made a substantial bid for the 25-year-old, who has spent the first half of the season on loan at the City Ground, late last week, believed to be around the £600,000 mark.

But Forest appear to have won the race.

Everton striker Nikica Jelavic is understood to be discussing personal terms on a move to Hull while the Premier League club have also agreed a fee with West Brom for striker Shane Long.

Both deals are believed to be in the region of £6.5m.

Jelavic has told a Croatian newspaper that he has signed for the KC Stadium club.

Jelavic said: “Steve Bruce called me and told me that he wants me in his team as a leading attacker.

“He asked me if I’m ready to move, then talked briefly about the club, his coaching philosophy and about the club’s goals.

“He was very confident during that conversation and after that I agreed to move to Hull City.

“The club suits me and I’m happy that the clubs have found an agreement for my transfer.”

BARNSLEY are being linked with a loan move for former Sheffield Wednesday loan striker Leroy Lita.

The arrival of Lita, who also spent a spell at Middlesbrough earlier in his career, would add goalscoring punch to the Reds line-up with the frontman currently out of favour at Premier League outfit Swansea City.

Reds chief Danny Wilson to keen to add some pace to his line-up, a quality Lita possesses in abundance, alongside predatory nous with the ex-Reading forward having netted seven goals in 17 games on loan at the Owls last term, helping them to stave off the drop.

A deal to sign Liam Lawrence, currently training at Oakwell, is also a possibility as Wilson aims to revamp his side.

On the outgoing front, veteran Reds forward Jason Scotland, 34, is interesting SPL side Hibernian, with his former club St Johnstone, Aberdeen and Motherwell also keeping tabs on the Trinidad and Tobago star, whose wife is Scottish.

Scotland is out of contract this summer.

ROTHERHAM UNITED have completed the signing of Bournemouth striker WesThomas for an undisclosed fee - with the 26-year-old joining for the rest of the season.

Wolves were recently linked with the former Cheltenham frontman, who has failed to score in 12 appearances for the Cherries this term and was out of contract this summer.

Boss Evans, whose capture of Thomas follows on from his acquisition of Miles Addison from the south-coast club last week, said: “Wes is an excellent signing and I thank our chairman for his continued support.

“The lad had several options, but he has decided to join us and we are all delighted.

“Our talks will continue into Wes being here for much longer than the summer, but at least he is here until the end of the season.”

HUDDERSFIELD TOWN look set to follow up the high-profile capture of Nakhi Wells with the dual signing of Kidderminster striker Joe Lolley and Norwegian midfielder Sondre Tronstad.

Tronstad, 18, is due to sign from Norwegian outfit Start and Lolley is set to play his final game for Harriers in their FA Cup third round replay with Peterborough on Tuesday, after which he is expected to put pen-to-paper.

Town have been linked with a move for Scotland international and Aston Villa full-back Alan Hutton, but the club have rubbished the report.

Recently-released DONCASTER ROVERS midfielder James Harper is training with League Two side Portsmouth.

He is a player well known to Pompey director of football Steve Coppell, who managed Harper at the Madejski Stadium.

Pompey boss Richie Barker said: “James still lives in Reading so he’s come in and is doing some work with us.

“If he comes in and is the best player every day, I dare say we’ll look at doing something.

“Steve Coppell has said he’s the fittest player he’s had. You don’t lose that overnight.”

On the incoming front, Rovers are being linked with a move for Romanian international Gabriel Tamas, who used to play in England with West Brom.

YORK CITY have allowed Craig Clay and Jamal Fyfield to leave the club by mutual consent as Nigel Worthington continues his rebuilding.
